These sessions are designed for those who own, or regularly use, a RIB or other small powerboat (up to 10m) and are ready to start developing their skills in more challenging sea states of significant wave height of 1m (max height 2m).
Aim of the Course:
By the end of the session you will have the knowledge to tackle wave heights of 1-2m and reduce the stress if conditions deteriorate whilst you are out on a day trip. Approximately 75% of the session is spent in practical application of the theory.
When Does The Course Run:
The course will only run if we have appropriate conditions in Falmouth Bay. i.e. wave sets of approx. 1m, together with reasonable visibility and wind speeds.
We hold a waiting list for the course. Please use the button to send an email with your availability. We will contact you about a week in advance if the 5-7 day forecast indicates we will be able to offer the course.
There is no commitment from you until you book the course.
Caution:
Four hours on the water is only an introduction to the techniques and skills necessary to successfully deal with an unexpected deterioration in conditions. Many hours of practice are necessary to become truly competent and confident in poor sea conditions.
Prerequisites:
A minimum of RYA Powerboat level 2 or equivalent experience is required and you must be competent with handling a boat in calm conditions.
